Procedural Creation and Implementation of an Immersive Escape Room

Master's degree thesis

An Immersive Educational Escape Room (IEER) is a pedagogical tool for teachers to use
with their students in immersive teaching-learning processes, since it is adaptable to any type of
theme, difficulty, objective, among many other parameterizable factors. Escape Rooms are
usually composed of a single or multi-level lineup, where its users are subjected to various
challenges. These challenges create links with each other in order to direct participants to a final
challenge that leads them to the completion of the game activity

In my thesis, I developed a procedural tool using the software Houdini that can generate divisions based on a set of parameters. These parameters alter the overall look of the division as well as the placement of its assets.

Games/Apps Projects

These topics included wildlife protection, self-esteem, weather monitoring, mental illness, and fear management.

Nyctophobia - 2020 November

Individual assignment for a quick platform game where the player had to face the fear of the dark, also known as Nyctophobia. The objective of the game was like every other basic platformer, the player needs to reach the end in order to finish the level while avoiding the dark.

Dancing Plague - January 2021

Unity game for a group school project based on a true historical event that happened in 1518 in Strasbourg France that made people go into a frenetic state of dancing.
Assets were drawn and animated with Adobe Photoshop and After Effects.
